You’ll start your romantic safari with two nights in the leafy Langata neighbourhood of Nairobi staying at the iconic Giraffe Manor. Starting your safari with a bucket-list breakfast, one of the most fascinating things about Giraffe Manor is its resident herd of Rothschild’s giraffes who may visit morning and evening, poking their long necks into the windows in the hope that you’ll share a treat.
You then board a small Cessna plane and head to the rugged north of Samburu and stay at Sasaab lodge, a Safari Collection lodge that not only offers beautiful, tented rooms and an unexpected range of safari activities but is also born out of a respectful partnership with the local Samburu communities. You enjoy a couple of days of safari, spotting elephants and the Samburu Special 5 alongside cultural activities. Continuing your safari, next up is the world-famous Masai Mara where the big game viewing awaits. Wake up to the cacophony of early birdsong, go on a day long game drive with a picnic lunch, enjoy a magnificent bush breakfast under a tree, fall asleep to the guttural roaring of the lions or simply take a dip in your plunge pool. One morning wake up before the sun for a hot air balloon safari, soaring through the sky as its turns ablaze with the sunrise before descending to a special champagne breakfast.
On day 9 it’s time to dust off your safari boots and swap your safari outfits for sandals and flowing kaftans as you make your way to the coast. Marvel at the different shades of blue of the Indian Ocean, with your feet in the warm sand, slowing down will come naturally during your stay at Alfajiri. From your private villa you can spend your time lazing on the idyllic Diani beach, explore the kaleidoscopic coral with snorkelling or diving excursions or simply unwind with an massage in the seclusion of your villa, with the rolling waves as your soothing soundtrack.

Dating back to the 1930’s, Giraffe Manor is an exquisite manor hotel with a boutique feel. With twelve rooms characterful rooms, a serene wellness centre enjoy the hot tub, sauna, steam room and gym or simply relax in the gardens overlooking the giraffe sanctuary. The most fascinating thing, is its resident herd of Rothschild's giraffes, who offer great entertainment as they stop by at breakfast time to say hello.
Part of the Safari Collection, Sasaab is perfectly described as a serene oasis in the dry rugged landscape of Samburu. The camp itself is a stunning blend of Moroccan and Swahili style but where Sasaab shines through is the work they do with the local semi-nomadic communities, on the conservancy and the numerous projects they support from the Grevy’s Zebra Trust to the school lunch programme, and the Samburu Project to bring safe water to the local communities.
Very close to the Tanzania border, Sala’s Camp combines the feel of a traditional safari tented camp with modern touches such as a glass front to the tents to connect with the bush. There’s also bathtubs for a well-deserved soak after a hot and dusty day in the Mara and a plunge pool – all these elevate the experience to such an extent that Sala’s is known to be one of the most luxurious camps in the Mara.
